Steps to Access Swashes via Character Map You can actually choose any of the “Group By” modes to find just what you’re looking for. You don’t necessarily need to complete Steps 2-4 to use the swashes, but it helps narrow down all the Glyphs so you’ll see them easier. To use the swashes, let’s go through the steps below. ♥ Accessing Glyphs and Swashes via Character Map If you don’t see it in your font list, try typing it into the font box. You’ll see the Character Mapwindow open, as shown in the image below.įirst, let’s choose the Lilly Mae font from the drop-down font window and then view the Glyphs. Easy peasy! Accessing Character Map in Windows Type Character Map in your search browser on the bottom left of your screen. Next, click the StartIcon and go to Windows Accessories > Character Map. You will not be able to click on OpenType and choose options if you are using a font that is not OpenType. You can also find the list of OpenType options by clicking on the 4 lines in the top right of the Character panel and selecting OpenType from the flyout menu. To configure and use the options choose an OpenType font, create and select some text, and then click on the desired OpenType icon in the Characters panel. ![]() If you have a type tool selected, you can click the Panel button in the options bar above the canvas. You can access the Characters panel from the main toolbar Window > Character, or click on the Character panel tab if the panel is visible but not currently active. You can also enable Discretionary ligatures if your chosen font offers them, which provides additional ornate options. Ligatures are typographic replacement characters for certain groups of letters. With some OpenType fonts, you can choose to apply ligatures to character pairs automatically.
